wilf3uk wrote:Have got my 2nd trainee on kicking sessions and will adjust the guide to stress how valued kicking is.
Both trainees should have a few pops now so i'll take a look at them this week and add some more to the guide.
Tactics are likely to be next up, along with a list of 'do and dont's'.
Anyone got a few newbie mistakes to add to the dont list? such as increasing stadium whilst in a bot league, going ltnt against bots etc
I would add to only increase stadium if you are selling out regularly, and not to expand too many sections at once. Also to ensure that the staffing levels are adjusted accordingly. Even if you are not getting messages, it may be worthwhile dropping staffing levels until the warnings start, then upping it a little bit to ensure optimal staffing

Yeh, that sounds good. I'll put that up as things to do in your 2nd season when members have grown, or if you get promoted into a league with human teams.

Wilf - a small point. The test team links at the top actually take you to My Club-Office (guess your test team has gone under)

I've added a money making section to this. There is plenty more I could add, so if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to include them.

Cheers Iorwerth. A lot of it is just pointing out the obvious to us older members, but the newer members might pick up a few tricks in there.

Look's really good. Wish this has been around when I joined.
Is it going onto the main site? Could be a great thing to include a link to in the welcome email/tutorial stuff.

Im not sure if the welcome email is still doing the rounds, but I'll try and point this out whenever a newbie joins the offsite.
Not too sure about putting it in the main 'br' part of the offsite yet, as its already pretty full of stickies....but if we let it drop down the list, it may be deleted because of inactivity.

Re: Welsh BR newbie guide
I have mentioned your guide over in the staff lounge on BR. The old guide is, well, old and needs a re-jig. The formatting of yours won't work on BR I think, but hopefully something similar could be achieved. This guide would be a real boon to any newbie who reads it.

Re: Welsh BR newbie guide
I was thinking on the main Blackout Rugby site. Could be worth a mention to Jeremy? Especially as they are trying to get players to stay with the game, and this could help new players do that.
And what formatting won't work? I'm sure I could work something out to get it to work on the site.

Re: Welsh BR newbie guide
I thought I would run it by the staff first - also Jeremy is on there a fair bit, so will get to look at it. The formatting thing I was talking about was the screen shots that Wilf uses - I didn't think doing that was possible in the BR lounges.

Re: Welsh BR newbie guide
The BR newbie docs are lot more professional looking that what I have got on here, so Iorwerth is right that a lot of it in unworkable and would need changing.
The screenshots are also a problem, because a lot of them are of players who already exist in the game. I've no issues with my players screenshots being used, but some of the other managers may not want theirs used.

Re: Welsh BR newbie guide
Having had a look at both, most of the stuff could be edited in to sections already in the guide. The player specifics would be a little awkward to work in though, but keeping it more general could work.
The making money section is the only part that really needs to be a stand alone section, a bit of rewriting for the rest to work it in and I think it would be okay.
Though of course, it depends on what Jeremy says.

Hey Wilf, would I be okay to copy this and post it on the Georgian Offsite? Of course, with full credit.
